AICHI UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION IS THE BEST! Everyone there was so friendly and nice! It's a university that's roughly about the size of BSU, but with less students. Most people there major in education, I think. This is where my friend Narumi goes to school! <3 I finally got to meet her in person here! I was super happy!!!
Every day, we had a class related to Japanese culture. We had Ikebana class, calligraphy class, tea ceremony, and we got to try on kimono and yukata. Everything was so fun and interesting, but my favorite thing was definitely the ikebana class. I thought it was really relaxing, and it was interesting to me how everyone could have different arrangements, but they would all end up looking beautiful. Definitely a good way to teach that everything, no matter how different, can be beautiful.
The kimono time was really fun too, especially because we all paraded around campus together! A lot of people stared at us (i.e. *cough* Nic *cough*), and it was super windy out, which made everything difficult, but I really enjoyed it. Traditional clothing in Japan is just so ornate and elegant!
While we were here, we visited an elementary school. The kids were super cute, and excited to see us! They stared at us like "whoa, FOREIGNERS!", and they all kept asking us "who are you?!". It was really cute! At one point, I asked some kids if they liked English, and they told me no, but then became very excited when I said we were all American. They all tried to say "hello" to all of us! But, they also said we were scary, so there's that too. At the end, though, they called us all "せんぱい/senpai/senior", and it made me really happy! ^_^
Their school was so cool too! They had so many things there that I never had until middle school and high school, including a pool, a music room, a kitchen for cooking classes, and a giant gymnasium. Those kids sure are lucky!!! They even had a recording studio for radio shows! I think Travis and Dakota were really interested in that, too.
Every night, however, we all had parties with our new Japanese friends, and it was wonderful! We all just sat and talked and ate together, and we had so much fun. I really miss everyone at AUE, and I wish I could have stayed longer!!! In the future, I want to go there again! Maybe I can go to school there too in the near future......maybe.
Friends, please wait for me, and please keep in contact! I miss you all so much!!!!
